I volunteer with Tots2Teens Albury Wodonga because, after more than two decades in law enforcement, I understand the deep and lasting impact domestic and family violence can have on children and families. Through my frontline policing, and emergency response, I’ve witnessed the critical need for practical, compassionate support during times of crisis. Tots2Teens delivers that support, quietly and powerfully, when kids need it most.
What makes this work even more meaningful is that my children volunteer alongside me. Together, we’re building a family culture of giving back, showing that even small acts of service can help restore dignity and hope. It’s about strengthening our community, supporting those in need, and passing on the values of empathy, resilience, and social responsibility to the next generation.
Volunteering with Tots2Teens connects me with people who are equally committed to making a difference. It’s a reminder that positive change doesn’t always come from formal systems, it often begins with a local group of people who care enough to act. Being part of this grassroots network reinforces the importance of kindness, community, and stepping up when others are doing it tough. It’s not just about charity; it’s about shared humanity.
Tots2Teens is a 100% community-run charity, driven entirely by volunteers who give their time, skills, and care to support local families. Even if you work full-time, as I do, there’s still a place for you. Whether its packing crisis care kits, delivering essential items, or helping behind the scenes, there are so many ways to get involved and make a genuine difference in someone’s life.
Being a committee member has given me the opportunity to contribute strategically to the direction and sustainability of the charity. It’s not just about the day-to-day tasks, it’s about ensuring Tots2Teens continues to meet the growing needs of the community. Committee members play a vital role in planning, governance, and advocacy, and I’m proud to use my experience to help shape the future of an organisation that’s making such a real, local impact.
